Snake Handling Courses for Industries

Snakehandler is one of only a few companies licensed to teach Venomous Snake Catching courses in Australia. We currently hold permits in Victoria, Queensland, South Australia & the Northern Territory.
With over 5 years experience in teaching at mine sites and other industries, a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment & Training our 2 day course concentrates on Safety at all times. We have recently upgraded to $20m public liability insurance.
Our course is in line with the Mining industries safety guidelines, and incorporates site specific training within the course.
News Flash! Australia's first and only Nationally Recognised Training program in Venomous Snake Handling!
Sites may be eligible for up to 50% funding from the Resources Industry Training Fund; this is only available to courses which are nationally accredited. - Provide Information on the Nature of Reptiles.
- Conform to Legislative and OH&S Requirements in Snake Handling
- Provide Advice For Snake Bite Prevention & Demonstrate First Aid
- Identify Snakes
- Handle Reptiles
This is the only course in Australia that is Recognised by the
Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations, and can
be found on the NTIS (National
Training Information Service) Database. This course has created the
Australian Standard in Training and Handling of Reptiles and as such
successful completion provides the only Qualification available in
Venomous Snake Handling. The course and trainers must adhere to 12
nationally recognised education and training standards and must be
overseen by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

Course includes Risk assessments & Job Safety Analysis; booklets are provided for each participant and certificates upon successful completion.
Snakehandler will also provide a written report on the course to management including a full list of any reptiles to be included on the site's DMP (Queensland Damage Mitigation Permit). Where practical, Snakehandler will also include a list of suggestions on site improvement, as well as any areas of specific concern.
We can also combine Reptile Awareness Sessions for onsite training of staff who do not wish to attend the course.
